ABOUT:
Jane Cohen is a New Hampshire based mixed media artist. Her work blends intuition and experimentation, creating a strong independent language of memories and invention. The work is a fluid integration of painting, collage and printmaking.
Before graduating from The University of Kansas with a BA, she was recruited by Hallmark Cards to write and design for their contemporary card line. After a visit to Boston, Cohen made the decision to move out of the midwest. In Boston she was an award winning art director for Breznick Advertising working on accounts that included State Street Bank. She left advertising to work at Boston College in the publications department as a designer/illustrator.

After getting married and moving to New Hampshire she taught in the art department of Hawthorne College before starting a successful graphic design studio. The League of NH Craftsmen was one of her first clients, designing their logo. Cohen's graphic design business shared studio space with her ongoing painting practice. After a number of years in business she decided to close the design company and concentrate exclusively on painting.
As a full time studio artist in Canterbury NH, Cohen has had artist residence at The Atlantic Center for the Arts, exhibited in galleries and museums in Florida, Massachusetts, Maine and New Hampshire. Her work can be seen in corporate and private collections.
"Abstract painter Jane Cohen's work reveals a deft hand with an abstract expressionist style and an understanding of paint as paint that should be appreciated by a wider audience."
